‘Steve McQueen: American Icon’ Documentary Featuring Mel Gibson, Gary Sinise and Mel Novak Is the Most Successful Fathom ‘Faith Event’ in Their History!

Pastor Greg Laurie’s much-anticipated faith-based documentary, “Steve McQueen: American Icon,” was narrated by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning actor Gary Sinise and features in-depth interviews with Academy Award-winning actor Mel Gibson, five-time Martial Arts Hall of Famer and multi-award-winning actor Mel Novak was the most successful Fathom “Faith Event” in their history! Over 100,000 moviegoers saw it across the country in packed out theaters on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. local time via the popular Fathom Events, a distribution company known for broadcasting live concerts and other events onto theater screens.

This momentous event was hosted by Harvest Christian Fellowship’s Greg Laurie. The event features the 110-minute documentary, a message from Laurie and a performance by leading contemporary Christian band MercyMe.

“We are still standing back in awe of the nationwide success of this ‘Steve McQueen: American Icon,’” said Laurie. “It was ranked #1 per screen on average for Thursday, Sept. 28 for all films across the country and #3 for Thursday. What this means is that on average per theater, more people saw this film than any other movie! I am also happy to report that this was the most successful Fathom ‘Faith event’ in their history! So, I’m happy to report that there will be two ENCORE showings of this film at a theater near you on both Oct. 10 and 19!”

Steve McQueen: American Icon” also showcases in-depth interviews with McQueen’s wife, model Barbara Minty McQueen, and debuts her candid photographs from McQueen’s last years. Other interviews featured in this must-see documentary are renowned stuntman Stan Barrett, celebrated McQueen biographer Marshall Terrill, actress Barbara Leigh and the pilot who taught Steve to fly.
